HALP Staff Paralegal Karen Stuart
I am a native Arizonan. I currently hold the position of Coordinator of HALP. I have been in this position since June 1996. Prior to becoming Coordinator, I volunteered with HALP for two years while attending paralegal school and working as a paralegal with Volunteer Lawyers Program.
HALP assists infected/affected HIV+ persons within Maricopa and Pinal counties with areas of law such as discrimination, confidentiality, estate planning, and other civil legal areas. Prior to becoming a paralegal, I worked in various retail management positions for 20 years.
My degree is an AA in paralegal studies from American Institute, formerly of Phoenix, Arizona.
My family: in addition to numerous friends I have made during my tenure with HALP and working in the community, my immediate family consists of my Significant Other, six children, thirteen grandchildren and two sets of parents.
My involvement in the community consists of volunteering with and participation in SAVORLife, AIDS Walk Phoenix and World AIDS Day celebrations. She also speaks at various trainings, schools and other AIDS services organizations (ASOs), health fairs, conferences and other events that are held in the the Phoenix metropolitan area.
